you have been appointed to a Nonpartisan Commission to Improve Voter Turnout. The Chairman of the Commission has asked you to come to the first commission meeting with an evidence-based analysis of a significant cause of low voter turnout

Your project must include:

1) A graphic representation that clearly indicates a specific cause of low voter turnout in the USA.

Graphic guidelines:

 Must be created on a computer (i.e. cannot be drawn by hand).

 You are not allowed to turn in a table; your graphic must be a chart.

 Your graphic cannot simply show low voter turnout nationwide; it needs to focus on a specific aspect of voter turnout.

 Data must come from a documented and verifiable source.

 You must be the author of the graphic. It counts as plagiarism to copy or turn in a graph you have cutand-pasted or copied from somewhere else.

 Attach to your assignment a copy of the raw data you used to develop your chart.

2) A 400-500 word explanation of what the raw data and chart tell you about the causes of low voter turnout in the United States. Make sure that you explicitly and clearly connect your written analysis to your visual representation. Use supporting ideas and evidence from the data source, but also use your textbook’s discussion of voter turnout and classroom lecture materials to support your analysis.

3) A 100-200 word proposal that the Commission should consider to resolve this specific voter turnout problem. (You can be creative here, but you need to present a feasible proposal.)

Writing guidelines for parts 2 and 3:

 Double space and use 12-point font with 1-inch margins.

 Use parenthetical notation and a works cited list to cite your sources. For example, if you are quoting from or borrowing an idea from the textbook, you should end the sentence with a citation like this (OpenStax Section 6.4). You must include a full citation of the textbook and any sources you use. Please refer to the MC library citation handout for guidance on proper citation formatting for your data sources. The source for your data must be indicated either as a source reference with your graphic, or as a note in your text.
