The Welfare Project will allow you to delve deeper into the intricacies of one (1) of the six (6) social welfare programs and identify what populations may/may not qualify and what their anticipated benefit would be.
There are two major efforts for this project – at team portion and an individual portion.
As a team you will create a written document addressing the details of the program (this will be turned in as a team in Week 2).
As an individual will be you responding to peers as if you are the program eligibility worker (this will be done in Week 3). Your peers from other teams, using provided case studies, will come to you using VoiceThread to ask you (as the program eligibility worker), if they qualify. You will provide an answer citing the reasons they do or do not qualify and what their anticipated benefit would be. Therefore, you will also act as a potential client in the other five (5) programs using a case study.
The instructions below articulate the requirements for the team piece of the project.
In Week 2, the first part of the Welfare Project will begin.
This is the team work – researching the details of the program and creating a written document with this information.
- Write up the details of your program as they are administered in Texas.
- Make sure you have all of the information necessary to act as an eligibility worker.
- (Next week you will use this information and apply it to case scenarios to determine if the person/family is eligible. This application to case scenarios will be done independently, so make sure that you understand the areas your group members have researched.)
- You can divide the work up among the team members any way you wish, but one easy way is to have one person research benefit amount, one person eligibility, etc.
- Turn in one (1) paper per team. There is no page minimum or maximum. You will be graded on the comprehensiveness of your program overview.
Address the following items in your paper.
