The University requires that a each student attend a professional, large ensemble concert and write a report on the experience.

The concerts should be professional large-scale, classically oriented performances. Examples are the Philadelphia Orchestra, Pennsylvania Ballet, Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia and Opera Philadelphia.

The Concert Report must be a minimum of three FULL, double spaced pages. You are required to also submit a photo of your ticket (when applicable), photo of the concert program, and a “selfie” taken at the venue. The ticket and program photos and the “selfie” are IN ADDITION to the minimum of three written pages.

When submitting papers, please include in the subject line whether it is a “Concert Report”, the “Temple Concert Report” or “Extra Credit”.

The primary purpose of the Concert Report is to get you to go to a professional, large ensemble event and to write down your feelings about the experience.

While you can include a brief amount of background (maximum of about half a page) about the music or performers (which can be gleaned from the printed concert program or on line), the primary purpose of the report is for you to express your feelings about the music and about the concert-going experience. You must write something about ALL of the music on the program.

The concert paper is due at the class closest to one week after the concert It is due close to the concert so that the event will be fresh in your memory when your report.

If a paper is over two weeks late, 2 points will be deducted from the grade for each additional late week.
