“Confusing Harder with Better” by Alfie Kohn
It will be five paragraphs. The first paragraph must begin with a TAMI sentence that contains the title of the article, the author’s full name, and the main idea of the reading and your thesis.
The second paragraph will include the summary. Only main ideas, not supporting details should be included. No direct quotes are used. The author’s name should be included often.
The third and fourth paragraphs are your response to the article. They begin with a strong topic sentence. This is your claim, not the opinion of the author. The rest of that paragraph is your support for or explanation of the thesis. It should connect to your research question. They end with a concluding sentence.
The final paragraph is your conclusion that reiterates the author’s main idea as well as your own.
