Need a response to the below:

Hello Class and Professor,

The Market Revolution was a rapid change in the U.S. economy as a result from technological improvements in the early nineteenth century. There was an increased circulation of goods and it pulled farmers out of self-sufficient farming only to benefit acquaintances and the family and instead engaged them in buying and selling goods, worldwide.

One effect from the Market Revolution was advances in transportation. The steam engine was invented and railroads expanded to over 30,000 miles of railroad tracks in the country.

The second effect from the Market Revolution was advances in communication. The telegraph was invented and provided rapid communication between distant points along the roads or tracks.

A third effect from the Market Revolution was the spread of freedom, including in the private realm. Abraham Lincoln described it as the “Race of Life in a Free Society”. This was also the “era of good feeling” with prices for goods set by competition on a worldwide basis. The Bill of Rights had identified a listing of ten public freedoms and rights. But the private sector was ignored…until the Market Revolution came around.

Other changes occurring at the time were the Reform movement and the Democractic-Republicans changes.

One effect from the Reform Movement was the reform of religion. The Shaker communities sequestered themselves from the rest of society because they were celibate.

A second effect from the Reform Movement was Abolition of Slavery and it was the largest movement with a large number of white women supporting the cause. The American Colonization group proposed sending all slaves back to Africa, and with government assistance established a port in Liberia

A third effect from the Reform Movement was the Great Awakening. In a thirty-year period, the number of ministers increased from 2,000 to 40,000, mostly Protestants. Perfectionalism was sought for members of the community. The Great Awakening also provided freedoms. However, the members and participants were free from the temptation of sin because their behavior was regulated. This time also saw the construction of asylums, mental hospitals, poor houses, and jails.

A first effect from the Democracy events was the creation of a national bank. Jefferson strongly opposed this Hamiltonian plan to establish a national bank but Washington approved it anyway.

A second effect from the Democracy was the report on manufactures prepared by Hamilton which proposed tariffs placed on foreign ships entering American harbors, and government subsidies made available to support American businesses.

A third effect from the Democracy was the report on public credit prepared by Hamilton which planned for the release of government bonds to pay off U.S. debt and raise the credit rating of the United States.

As a farmer living in an urban area, I would be for the Market Revolution because it enabled the creation of personal wealth, and minimized the impact of poor harvests because shortages would increase demand and raise prices in the marketplace.

As a farmer, I would be against the Reform Movement because my own business was my own business and no one else’s business. I would also be against the “freedom from sin” campaign. Since I did not have any slaves myself, I was not outspoken on the Abolition Movement, but did reject it.

As a farmer, I would be for the Democratic events taking place, including supporting the creation of a national bank. I also would support the rebuilding of the U.S. credit rating and firmly support the initiation of tariffs against foreign ships docking in American harbors and government subsidies made available to American businesses.
