Research proposal

Please avoid plagiarism

Use simple words

Follow the steps carefully

Objective: To begin the process of writing a full-fledged APA style research paper and proposal.

About these assignments: The overall purpose of the research proposal is to summarize a research topic that interests you and to propose new research based off your summary. You will be required to write a manuscript-style paper in APA format (i.e., your paper will be formatted similarly to the journal articles that you read). It will have a title page, abstract, introduction, methods, expected results, and references section. You will submit this assignment in three parts, but it is all part of one paper. This means that you can use your work that you submitted in Research Proposal (Part I) in Parts II and III (after incorporating my comments of course!).

Part I: You are going research at least three peer-reviewed scholarly articles and summarize them by creating an annotated bibliography. You will also outline your introduction of your proposal.

Instructions:
A bibliography is a list of scholarly sources used to research a topic. In APA format, it is synonymous to your references page. An annotated bibliography is a summary of each source in your research proposal. For this assignment, you are to create an annotated bibliography using at least three (3) sources. Each annotation should be roughly one page (totaling 3 pages) and should start with the proper citation followed by your summary. Please see the Sample Annotated Bibliography for your reference.

This annotated bibliography will be the basis for your introduction to your research proposal. You can even use your same annotations as the text to your introduction, although you will need to ensure that your introduction flows seamlessly.

Tasks:
1. Using the Lynn University Library Database search for a research topic that genuinely interests you. Find and read up to 3 peer-reviewed articles that you will use to create your annotated bibliography. (Note: You will be required to have at least 6 peer-reviewed sources for your final project; if you want to gather all 6 sources at this point, you can.)

2. Write an annotated bibliography with an annotation for each of your sources. Each annotation should be about one page in-length. See the sample for formatting.

3. Create an outline for your introduction. Use your annotated bibliography as guidance. See the Sample Outline for direction.

4. See the rubric for grading criteria

5. Submit here a single document containing your annotated bibliography and introductory outline.

Objective: To continue the process of writing a full-fledged APA style research paper and proposal.

About these assignments: See Part I

Part II: You are going to write your introduction for your research proposal. The introduction will contain a literature review and a reference page. The introduction is similar to the research papers that you are probably used to writing in your science classes. It mostly involves summarizing the current state of the literature on the topic that you chose. Introductions do not necessarily review all of the literature that has ever been done on a topic, but they do explain the topic to your reader in a relatively comprehensive way.

Your introduction will be 5-7 pages and will cite at least 6 peer-reviewed references. Using your outline, please include these 3 major sections in your introduction:

  1. Introducing the Topic: Explain the issue you are examining and why it is significant
  2. Background/Review of the Literature: A description of what is already known about this area and short discussion of why the background studies are not sufficient
  3. Rationale of Your Study: A description of the question you are examining and an explanation of the importance of the topic

You may use anything that you wrote for your annotated bibliography or outline. Remember, this research proposal is considered one assignment so you are not plagiarizing yourself.

Tasks:

1. Using the Lynn University Library Database, find at least 3 more peer-reviewed articles (in addition to the 3 you found for Part 1).

2. Using your outline for guidance and your annotated bibliography for substance, write a 5-7 page introduction to your research proposal. You may want to consider first adding your new sources to your annotated bibliography and outline. This will assist you in writing your introduction (you do not need to submit an annotated bibliography or outline for Part II).

3. Write an ur APA style reference page with all 6 sources in alphabetical order (see below for formatting advice.)

4. Submit here a single document containing a title page, introduction, and references page.
