For this reading response, you will write FOUR short analyses of individual poems of your choice from Trethewey’s book, Native Guard. Do not use sections from the same poem as individual poems for the purposes of this review.

For each analysis, you will pick a different poem. You should explain the way that the form and content relate to each other with specific attention to any poetic forms and devices used. For example, if the poem is a sonnet, discuss how the formal aspects of the sonnet work with the emotional tensions of the poem. Please include quotes from poems.

EACH of your FOUR analyses should be 200 words minimum. Number and label each response to differentiate them.

You should not need to do research for this review.
