RE: SOCW6302 – (WK6) Response to one student Alecia (DUE by this Thursday)

Response to Alecia: Please use one peer reviewed reference

Respond to a colleague’s post by suggesting how their qualitative research may benefit evidence-based practice. Please use the resources to support your answer.

If you focused on a qualitative proposal in Week 4, describe the qualitative research question and explain the rationale for choosing a qualitative approach.

My question was what are the effects of dieting or non dieting rationals. The rationale of this study is to expand understanding on the experience of losing weight through proper diet and exercise.

Be sure to explain how you might collect the data.

The data would be collected through Semi-structured interviews where qualitatively analysis is used in a descriptive phenomenological approach. This will be done by auditory records and then they would be transcribed verbatim as to what was said. After that is completed there would be an internal reliability check done by listening to all of the auditory files to confirm that the interviews were transcribed right.

Consider which qualitative method (case study, grounded theory, ethnographic research, cross-sectional research, feminist research, or participatory action research) would be most suitable for answering the research question.

Participatory action research would be most suitable. This research is used primarily to give a voice to marginalized groups of people (Yegidis, Weinbach & Myers, 2018). Obese people can be shunned by others and marginalized for their size. They endure cruel language, looks, and treatment for how they appear to those that view them in disgust. Participatory action research is different from most other approaches to public health research because it is based on reflection, data collection, and action that aims to improve health and reduce health inequities through involving people who will, in turn, take actions to improve their own health.
