Promoting Equal Partnerships

As a teacher, you will need to promote supportive relationships with your students’ parents and families while also being mindful of social and community issues that directly or indirectly affect your students. Promoting equal partnerships among school staff, families, and community resources enhances student learning and family well-being. Understanding social and community issues and identifying solutions help to promote a successful partnership.

This is a Collaborative Learning Community assignment.

In your CLC, select a grade level (1st grade), and school (Copper Basin k-8 in San Tan Valley AZ) from one of the communities that your CLC members researched for the assignment, “Touring the Community.” For this assignment, the CLC members will pretend to be teachers from that grade at that school, and create a plan to develop a partnership, related to a social or community issue, that will support student development and achievement, enhance family well-being, and promote collaboration between all who are involved.

Identify a partnership (e.g., school, student, family, community) that your grade level can collaboratively support.

Using the “Promoting Equal Partnerships Template,” detail your grade level’s plan for your proposed partnership to share with your school’s principal in 750-1,000 words.

Include the following:

  1. A description of the social or community issue and proposed partnership.
  2. A rationale for the need for the proposed partnership in relation to the social or community issue identified.
  3. A goal of the partnership including a minimum of two measurable outcomes.
  4. At least 3-4 activities, outreaches, or other events to support the proposed partnership.
  5. Potential obstacles for fulfilling the plan that are associated with the social or community issue and solutions to the identified obstacles. A great obstacle for the present time would be Covid-19. 
  6. Technologies and resources needed for the plan to be successful.

What is the issue??? ELL and diversity for teaching and communicating with diverse families in the community.

Goals??? Finding strategies to communicate with the families to help them feel like they are a part of the community part of the school.

I do not need to do 1 -4 above, others in the class will do those. I need a total of three hundred words so divide that up any way that works best for these 2 parts that are bolded (5 and 6) above.
