RE: NAFTA (North America Free Trade Agreement)

Without question! I admire the extensive research and study you have done to formulate your comprehensive response to the questions posed in this forum! You make several good arguments for the positive impacts that these trade agreements have had in the Americas. The unsettled political and economic environments in countries from Central to South America have created several barriers to the realization of many of these projected benefits from the implementation of these agreements. I know from my own personal experiences as a business owner and consultant that NAFTA significantly raised the tax responsibilities of companies engaged in cross-border business transactions. For example, I had to pay Mexican federal taxes on all earnings from work I did there, and then had to pay further amounts once my taxable earnings had been calculated in the U.S. What would you say the chief disadvantages of these agreements might be?
