Using “Get Out”, write an analysis that explains each step of the classical paradigm as it appears in the film. Explain where each stage occurs the purpose of each stage in telling the larger story.
Exposition: How does the audience figure out what is going on? Do you think it is clear or confusing and why do you think the director makes the choices he does in the beginning? Does anything in the beginning of the film connect or set up later events? Explain.
Rising Action: What do you think are the major conflicts/issues etc that the protagonist faces? Describe in detail.
Climax: This may be a tough one but what scene would you identify as the climax of the film? Why? Explain in detail!
Turning Point: very connected to the climax but also a moment when everything changes for the central character – he realizes something about himself, other characters and/or the world around him – where is this in the film? What happens?
Falling Action – how are the many plot threads wrapped up? What are they ? does the tension and suspense lessen?
Resolution – as we discussed, most films have clear resolution – does this happen here? How? Is anything left unresolved and if so, what and why?
