Describe some of the values Jesus had in mind when he used the phrase “Kingdom of God.” One scholar has called Jesus’s message “ethical apocalypticism.” What do you think this means in light of our discussion of apocalypticism in the text? (You might want to relate this to the Beatitudes in Matthew 5:1-12.)

The Kingdom of God actually has a few different meanings, but as you go about answering the discussion prompt and question, note that proclaiming the Kingdom of God was at the heart of Jesus’ message, and, in fact, He mentioned the Kingdom of God some 90 times in the New Testament. But be careful here. The Kingdom of God is not simply Heaven, though that is one aspect of it.
