Scenario and Summary

Welcome to the Week 5 and 6 iLab.

The purpose of this lab is to compare the total achievable WLAN throughput, measured in a mixed 11b/11g WLAN and in an all-11g WLAN, to study the performance degradation in 11g WLANs that support legacy nodes.

This lab extends over 2 weeks – week 5 and week 6.  It is not due until the end of week 6.

iLab and Report Guidelines

Follow these guidelines to successfully complete your iLab and iLab report.

    1. Use the lab report template for your lab. Note: It is a good idea to read over everything in the lab report template before performing your labs so that you know what to expect.

    1. Make sure that you read, understand, and follow all steps in this week’s iLab page, as well as all iLab instructions.

    1. For labs that require screenshots, have your lab report open, along with your instructions, so that you can immediately capture the screen and then paste it in your lab report before moving on to subsequent steps. In many cases, it is difficult to go back and capture an accurate screenshot after you have moved beyond the step requiring the screenshot.

    1. When asked to summarize what you learned, always provide well-written, graduate-level paragraphs that include well-formed sentences, along with proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Don’t just identify the steps that you performed (we already know that); give it some thought. In your summary, include what you accomplished in the lab, what you learned from performing it, how it relates to course material, and just as important, how you feel it will benefit you in your academic and professional career.

  1. Always append your name to your lab report before saving. Submit your completed lab report to the appropriate weekly DropboThis lab extends over 2 weeks – week 5 and week 6. It is not due until the end of week 6.

    You are required to submit a single iLab report for the Week 5/6 iLab assignment.

    The iLab report template contains

    • questions 1–5, which relate to the performance of your OPNET Modeler lab;
    • questions 6–10, which relate to general concepts concerning mixing 11b and 11g clients; and
    • your conclusion concerning the lab, its concepts, and applicability to your career.x.
