Debate #1: Should Supreme Court Justices Be Term-Limited?

Among the institutions of the federal government, only the federal judiciary is unelected. The Founders chose to institutionalie judicial independence by removing judges and Jsutices from the electoral process, understanding the judiciary’s role in mitigating the negative effects of majority rule. But is it time for a change? Consider the following arguments for and against term limits for the federal judiciary:

For: https://www.nytimes.com/roomfordebate/2016/03/19/c…

Against: http://ivn.us/2015/07/28/alexander-hamilton-explai…

In your first post, summarize the arguments for and against, then take a stand: which makes the most sense to you? Consider not only the issue of turnover and representation on the bench, but also the courts’ role in protecting the rights and interests of numerical minorities.
