Unit 9 Elevator Pitch

 

 

 

According to Kevin Daum in the online Inc. magazine (2013, July 12) there is a better way to provide a great elevator pitch. 

 

1. Get their attention: By targeting a problem they have and how you can solve it gets their attention. This is your half your battle in the minute or so you have to get your value proposition across to the listener.

 

For example: You know how_____ is consistently a problem in ramping up sales?

 

2. Tell them how you can solve their problem.

 

Our company ___ can provide ___ that will provide your _____staff with ___ that will increase (or decrease) ______.

 

Remember, the more factual and specific you can be, the more impact you will have. Vague promises or unsubstantiated claims do not work.

 

Ex: So you might say, our company Analytics 4.0 typically reduces the customer return rate to____%, depending on your ____. 

 

3. What sets you or your company apart from the competition?

 

Just vague references to “better customer service” is not enough- Provide them with compelling data or research or companies that have used your methods successfully.

 

We have applied what we gleaned from our published research and applied it in some of the top 20 global companies with tremendous success. Can I send you a link to our most recent results with ____ in the ____ publication?

 

If they answer yes, ask them for their business card and follow-up.
