Business-communication-This-should-be-addressed-to-Yvonne-Huddleston

1. This should be addressed to Yvonne Huddleston

I have thought about traveling the world, but the main place I would go would be Africa. The reason is that Africa is so diverse and having several different languages, I would have to learn the languages and the way that they do things.

I really did not put any thought of working and/ or studying in Africa, more of relaxing and having fun. But having the chance would make my career go further because I would like to work in a Human Resources department due to it being the field I am going to school for after graduation.

When working in Human Resources, I would have to learn their language, culture and their ways if I would want to work in any office in Africa. I also would have to go over their policies and work ethics(Cardon, P., 2013).

Companies depend on business people who can manage across cultures. This entails you to develop culture intelligence. Culture includes the shared values, norms, rules, and behaviors of an identifiable group who share the same things(Cardon. P., 2013). You have to respect, recognize, and appreciate cultural differences. When having a meeting, that is not in your language, you have to find a translator who knows the English language(Cardon, P., 2013).

When working in another country or culture, try building and maintain cross- cultural work relationships and this may include communicating and working in entirely new ways for you and others of that culture(Cardon, P., 2013). You would have to do the same things that you would do if you were working back home in the United States and to build trust, build credibility as you will have to learn how the culture show competence, caring and character(Cardon, P., 2013).

I also forgot to state, If you go to another country the salary may be totally different than it would be in the United States because of wha or how that country could be using or stock they could be using such as the Frank or Yen(Wagner & Westaby, 2009). The country cost of living can be different and to them you can be posing a threat because they want to know why you want to work in their country(Wagner & Westaby, 2009).

One of the countries outside of the U.S. I would like to work in would be Italy. It is the 5th most populous country in Europe. I understand that I would have to learn their language to study their foods. It was said in the chapter that “the best way to connections between people and its culture is to study their language (Cardon, 2013)”. I think I could work in Italy or France. I am in the cooking business and I would like to learn about their foods and the history of their foods.

I have always liked cooking and I am interested in finding out, the art of Italy or France’s food and how it is different. In doing research I have found that “the cost to feed rural family constituted 60-80% of its total expenses typically there was a “hunger for meat” and nearly always a negative calorie balance. The daily diet was based on bread (nearly always of very poor quality and hardly ever made of wheat), polenta, minor cereals, and dried legumes (mostly broad and other beans), and a few vegetables, among which were mainly onions and cabbages. This was in the 1980’s and 1990 ”(Cipriani, 2007).

I also found out that the Italians are somewhat like Americans, they value their time. It was stated that “ time became one of the key factors in consumer choice. Saving time in general, and spending it on oneself and recreational activities became increasingly important (Cipriani, 2007)”. They also started making simple meals to save time; there were no more formal meals. Meals away from home were popular, whether they took place in communal structures (offices, schools, hospitals) or in private/commercial areas (Cipriani, 2007)”. So through research, I found out that they have become like we are modern and eager for the fast food and fast life. By doing this research I have found that they take about as much pride in preparing their meals as we do.
