A. Older Adult Resource paper (15% of the grade)

Each student will expand their expertise on older adult resources by researching and then writing a paper on an older adult program that offers clinical services that is new to the student. This is a specific program in the Chicagoland area. Some types of programs may include Adult Day Services, Health Behavioral Services, Hospice care, care/case management or other programs where older adults and/or their families receive services. This does not need to be ongoing counseling in a traditional format. Including a visit to the specific older adult program and discussion with program staff about the services offered will add extra credit points. The paper will also include brief historical information on the funding of the program, policies impacting the program and the eligibility for the service. Students will review if the new federal and state administrations propose any changes to this program. The paper will demonstrate critical thinking by integrating information from the readings, strengths and weaknesses of the program and a final section that will describe how social workers are currently, or could be, integrated into the program.

The paper will be a minimum of 6 – 7 pages and follow APA format to receive full points.
